Theatrum Kuks

#novebaroko – New Baroque for the entire family

17

The Theatrum Kuks association continues in the Baroque tradition of the town of Kuks as a European artistic and cultural centre. It organises a multi-genre festival, Theatrum Kuks. With over 20 successful iterations, the 5-day long festival offers visitors Baroque and Baroque-inspired art events showcased on the impressive grounds of the Barouque site Kuks and in the surrounding areas. It seeks to reconnect the two river banks of the Kuks site and bring back performing arts, which have not been preserved in the same extent as the architecture or Braun’s sculptures. The organisation runs the Puppet Gallery and organises the Small Puppet Inventory, paying homage to Kuks’s Baroque sculpture and puppetry tradition. Theatrum Kuks is unique for its programming linked directly to local cultural history, commemorating it through artistic projects. Not only it preserves local history of the place, but opens it up to new interpretations. The myriad of activities in summer season enrich the potential of the small village of Kuks that carries on a significant cultural heritage of European format. In a fun way with opportunities for new experiences, they popularise Baroque era, incorporating it into our everyday life, and inspire creativity.
