SE.S.TA’s activities follow three basic directions: a support of artists’ careers, interdisciplinary approach, and audience development. The year-round programme of artist and research residencies in Žďár nad Sázavou and Prague provides artists with a much-needed space and time for research and advancement of their imagination and creativity. Each residency is followed by a public presentation with discussion to offer audiences an insight into creative processes. In Ždár we provide facilities for artists in the compound of the Ždár Castle. In addition to working both indoors and outdoors, artist residencies offer a historical, economic, and environmental context of the site, the Museum of the New Generation, and the Castle administration. All this, together with various active groups of the region’s inhabitants and artists, makes Ždár a lively and enriching place in Vysočina Region. Spectators are encouraged to engage at the events, including the KoresponDance festival which features a programme centred on community projects. A new Vysočina Cultural and Creative Centre will be established at Žďár nad Sázavou Castle in 2025 to continue these efforts.
